In general, the rate of employment in these countries while the between both genders’ employment rate .

In 1995 and 2005, the number of male employees in Australia reached over 55% and 70%, while females merely 28% and almost 40%, respectively. The same pattern can be observed in Iceland, whose rate of female employment, at 40% in 1995 and around 50% in 2005, was half of the male employment rate, which was over 70% in 1995 and increased to over 80% in the next 10 years. In New Zealand, the disparity between the number of men and women in the workplace was slightly larger, with the former’s rate 60% in 1995 and 70% in 2005, and latter’s rate stood at slightly over 20%, which then to over 40% in a ten-year period.

In the remaining three countries, the difference between female and male employment was much less significant. In Switzerland, while male’s rate accounted for 65% in 1995 and 80% in 2005, the female's rate reached 55% and 70% in the same period. In the UK, from 1995 to 2005, the female employment rate jumped from 50% to over 60%, while the male employment rate of 15% from 55% to almost 70%. Lastly, in America, the female employment rate saw a leap from 42% to 61% and the male employment rate slightly increased from 59% to 71% in the given period.
