The table illustrates the percentage of students who at a particular university in Australia in 2009. It presents data for six different , categorized by gender, first language, and place of birth.

Overall, female students their male counterparts in humanities, while the opposite trend was observed in . Notably, the percentage of students whose first language was not English was under 50% across all six departments. This pattern also holds true for the proportion of foreign-born students, with the exception of modern languages.

Regarding the percentage of female learners, English led with 67%, closely followed by modern languages and history, at 65% and 58% respectively. In contrast, the remaining subjects had female , varying from 29% to 42%.

Concerning those whose mother tongue was not English, modern languages had the highest percentage of such students, at 41%, nearly triple the figure for English and that for history. For the other departments, percentages , ranging from 32% to 38%.

Looking at where students were born, slightly over half students modern languages were born outside of Australia. The figures for the remaining departments were generally under 50%, with history having the lowest percentage at 18%.
