Overall, this behavior was particularly widespread among individuals aged 14 to 24. Among the four age categories, the figures for the older groups , whereas the opposite was observed for young people aged 14 to 34.

In 1978, more than 90% of individuals aged 14 to 24 watched at least one movie at the cinema on a monthly basis, closely followed by those in the 25 to 34 , with 80% exhibiting the same frequency of cinema-going. Individuals aged 35 to 49 60% of the cinema-goers, while those above 50 years old constituted the only group that fell below the 50% , with the figure for this age range standing at just above 40%.

Over the subsequent 30 years, the percentage of 14-to-24-year-olds visiting movie theaters at least once per month around 90%, ending the period at approximately 88% in 2008. The age group of 25 to 34 , dropping from 80% in 1978 to 60% in 1988, but it later , 80% from 1988 onwards. Similar albeit less patterns were observed for the remaining age groups, with the figures for 35-to-49-year-olds and those above 50 gradually increasing to approximately 70% and 50% respectively, despite throughout the period.
