The decision to having a child can stem from both professional and personal reasons. Regarding the former, many people delay so as to prioritize the of career and . As the cost of living in many places continues to rise and the job market becomes increasingly competitive, some couples feel the need to work more rigorously for longer hours to secure a sufficient income. Such devotion, unfortunately, leaves little space and time for raising children, which partly explains the trend towards later . Another motivation behind this decision is the desire for personal growth and self-fulfillment. Many individuals want to explore the world, pursue higher education, or delve into their passions before settling down and starting a family. For them, these valuable opportunities justify the choice to have children later in life.

Despite the advantages that delayed childbirth brings in terms of career prospects and personal satisfaction, I believe that the downsides might be more significant. One of the most significant disadvantages is the potential decline in as a person ages. This can lead to difficulties in , increased risks of complications during pregnancy, and higher chances of in the offspring. Another issue worth considering is that older parents may experience that make them struggle to keep up with the physical demands of raising young children. Such difficulties mean that the parents are prone to exhaustion, which in turn them from providing quality care for their children.
