Welcome to River Avon Adventures.
My name's Amanda and in a few moments you'll be getting into our kayaks and going out on the River Avon.
Now what's great about the boats you'll be in today is that once you're in and seated, you'll very quickly notice that there's plenty of space to move your legs around in, so you can position yourself in whatever way feels right for you.
The boats are very safe and people don't usually fall in, but in theory it might happen.
So you need to know what to do.
Now it is difficult to get back on the boat in deep water, so don't try that.
Just stay by your boat and someone will come and sort you out.
Avoid trying to swim to the land or you may get in the way of someone else's boat.
As for what to do with your phones while you're on the water and whether they're best left in the car for safety, well, the car park isn't monitored and if you did leave your phone behind, you'd end up with no photos of your day on the river.
So we actually have little plastic boxes for you, like those ones for storing food.
It's worth using one and putting your device in just to be on the safe side.
Phones don't float of course, but these do.
Now we'd love to welcome you back to River Avon Adventures again in the future.
We're open all year, even in winter.
And it's not just kayaks that we rent out.
We also have wetsuits, stand-up paddle boards and fishing gear.
And binoculars if you want to try a bit of bird watching.
Lots of great stuff for you to have a go with.
And the good news is we can offer discounts for next time you come to River Avon Adventures.
All you have to do is tell your friends that you've enjoyed your trip with us and when they join our mailing list and mention you, you'll get a voucher for 20% off.
Okay, we're nearly ready.
You'll be going off in your boats soon.
I'm just going to show you on this map what routes you can take today.
So we're at the boathouse here on the south side of the river in the middle of the map.
And the campsite, as you can see, is directly across the river from here on the opposite bank.
The river's current is very gentle, so you can paddle either way.
If you start going east, that's toward the right on the map.
You'll soon come to the fish restaurant.
It's on your left after you go under the old stone bridge.
There's space to moor your boat if you want to stop for lunch.
Or you might prefer to have a picnic of your own.
And there's also a really good spot for that with benches for you to sit on.
And you'll find this where the river splits in two.
So when you're having your sandwiches, you'll actually be on your very own island.
If you need a toilet, you'll have to go to the west of where we are now.
If you see how the car park is almost surrounded by the river, well, the loos are on the far side of the car park from here.
So just beyond it, in other words, but on the same side of the water.
It's just by the sharp bend in the river.
And then we have Frog Rock.
That's a rock in the shape of a frog.
At least some people think it is.
So to get there, when you're travelling west and you see a wooden bridge, there are some rocks there.
But that's not Frog Rock.
You need to keep going, and then it's on the right after you go under the bridge.
