The trip I would really love to go on is a long motorcycle journey from Ho Chi Minh City all the way up to Hà Giang, the northernmost province of Vietnam.

I would like to go with my older brother Minh, who’s already done a few shorter trips with me. He’s

The place I would like to go is the famous Hà Giang Loop, a roughly 300 km circular route through the mountains. It’s often called one of the most beautiful motorbike routes in Southeast Asia. As for when, I would like to visit Hà Giang during the rice-harvesting season in September or October 2026. At that time the terraces are golden yellow, the weather is cool, and there are fewer tourists. It’s .

Now, to tell you why I would like to go by motorcycle, it gives me complete freedom and the most

the landscape. When I’m on my motorbike, I can feel every twist of the road, every change in temperature, every smell of pine trees or wood smoke from village kitchens. It allows me to stop whenever I see a beautiful view, talk to local people at roadside stalls, or just a big car. Not to sound cliché but on a bike, I feel like a part of the journey. The Ma Pi Lèng Pass, for example, is : one side is a sheer drop of hundreds of metres, the other is vertical rock. Riding it slowly, , is something I can’t experience the same way in a car. Plus, it’s a challenge. Some sections are rough, steep, and have , so completing the loop feels like a real achievement. I want to do it with Minh because we always say, “When we finish the Hà Giang Loop together, we’ve officially become real bikers.”
