A time I showed something new to others was last year when I introduced my friends to a new hobby I had recently picked up: . As you might know, I come from Bat Trang, a village near Hanoi known for its traditional pottery, so I’ve always had a strong connection to this craft. I started getting into it more seriously and learning the various techniques to create beautiful pottery pieces, and I thought it would be fun to share that experience with my friends.

I decided to invite a group of close friends over to my place to show them how to make pottery. I set up a small pottery station with all the necessary tools, like a spinning wheel, clay, and carving tools, and I began by giving a brief demonstration. I showed them how to shape the clay and explained the different stages of making pottery, including molding, drying, and firing. It was a session, so everyone got a chance to try it for themselves.

I guided them through the steps, explaining how to properly and center it on the wheel before beginning to shape it into a bowl or mug. Some of my friends struggled at first, but it was a lot of fun to see their reactions when they realized how much skill and patience it takes to make a good piece. We spent the afternoon laughing and , and at the end, everyone left with a unique pottery creation they had made themselves.

I felt really proud of introducing them to something I’ve loved for so long, especially because it’s tied to my roots and culture.
