Exposure to world events helps students understand different cultures, political systems, and the most , which ultimately enhances their understanding of the world. For example, by learning about international topics such as climate change or , students develop a global challenges, fostering empathy and open-mindedness. Furthermore, studying diverse news sources can significantly improve students’ critical thinking skills. Research suggests that students who engage with different news sources tend to be better equipped to and engage in thoughtful discussions.

On the other hand, there are valid concerns regarding the relevance and practical application of international news for secondary school students.
